Transitions with AD/HD
Big life transitions can be more challenging with AD/HD. Parents have supported their children with AD/HD through elementary school helping them with coping mechanisms, time management, and other tasks. Increased levels of independence are needed in middle and high school to prepare students for the independent functioning required in college and/or a career.
Hiring a coach to help your young adult prepare for the independence needed creates the space for them to grow and build confidence. I can provide the active listening, powerful questions, reflections, and strategies that encourages growth of capabilities and habits as your adolescent/young adult transitions and thrives in a new role, living situation, high school, college, or wherever their life is taking them.
Coaching for transitions is all about their goals and helping them build toward independence. There is no boiler plate nor pat exercises. They control the focus, pace, and outcomes, while receiving support, guidance, understanding, reflection, and strategies in a partnership with me. I am there to assist with your adolescent/young adult’s journey.
If parents would benefit from coaching as well, we have additional coaches or therapists that can help you adjust to your new role.
